The Story
॥ સોહલા · सोहला · Sohla ॥
Sohla Farms began in a corner of Saurashtra, where the soil still remembers the monsoon and the cows still answer to their names. Three generations on, we farm by patience — not by season; by ethics — not by yield.
The Orchard
Forty acres of Kesar mango trees in Bhavnagar, tended by our family for over a decade. No carbide. No cold-room ripening. We pick them only when the Saurashtra breeze turns sweet — which is exactly why the fruit tastes of saffron and summer.
Every box you receive was hand-graded the same morning it was packed, in wooden crates lined with straw from our own fields.
The Gaushala
Our gaushala is home to thirty-two indigenous Gir cows — the red-coated, long-eared, gentle-eyed breed Saurashtra is famous for. They graze freely on neem and babool, are milked by hand, and are never separated from their calves at feed time.
Their A2 milk becomes ghee the old way: cultured overnight into curd, hand-churned in a wooden bilona, slow-simmered on a wood fire. It takes 25 litres of milk to make a single litre of ghee. We're in no hurry.
Two Generations
Sohla Farms began with a man, a pair of bullocks, and twelve acres of red soil. Twelve monsoons later, two brothers run what their father started — the same soil, the same patience, the same refusal to take shortcuts.
Founder · Piparla village, Ghogha taluka, Bhavnagar
Maheshbhai planted the first Kesar saplings on twelve acres of family land in Piparla. He worked the field with a single pair of bullocks, hand-watered every tree for six summers, and never sold a mango outside Bhavnagar district. Over the years he added the gaushala — bringing home indigenous Gir cows, hand-milking every morning at sunrise.
“ઉતાવળ નથી, ધૈર્યનો ફળ છે” · It is not haste, it is patience, that bears fruit.
Second generation · founders, Sohla Farms
Two brothers, one decision: cut out the middleman. No wholesalers, no agents, no carbide-ripening warehouses. We ship our own boxes, take our own calls, answer every WhatsApp ourselves. The fruit and the milk — all single-origin, all traceable to the day they were harvested.
“We didn't build this brand. Our dad built it. We just gave it a name.”
Why Sohla
Industrial food cuts corners. We don't. Here is what we hold ourselves to, every harvest.
No middlemen, no warehouses. Your order is packed by the same family that grew it.
Free-grazing cows, fair wages for forest foragers, soil that we leave better than we found it.
Slow food, made deliberately. Every batch is lot-numbered and traceable to the day it was made.
No pasteurisation shortcuts, no preservatives, no chemical refining. Raw, real, alive.
Visit the farm any harvest season. Every product carries a QR back to its origin.
Cold-chain to your door across metros. Mangoes packed at sunrise reach you by sunset.
A Day at Sohla
A glimpse into the orchard, the gaushala, the slow rhythm of how we work. No filters. No staging.
From Our Pantry to Theirs
The ghee took me back to my grandmother's kitchen in Pune. The aroma alone is the proof — this is the real bilona, not the supermarket imposter.”
Aa bottle kevi laage che? Sundar che ne! And the milk inside is even better — real A2, glass-bottled, delivered cold every morning. My kids drink it straight, no boiling needed.”
Order five boxes of Kesar every summer for the family. Never a single bad mango, and the packaging is genuinely beautiful. A gift in itself.”
